A 2008 Honda Pilot being driven by a 29-year-old woman crashed into a shed on Nostrand Avenue in Uniondale at approximately 7:10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, Nassau County Police said.
According to police, due to the collision, a small fire started underneath the vehicle after striking the shed.
Officers were able to remove the woman from the Honda without further incident, and a volunteer fireman used a hose to put out the fire before the Uniondale Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames.
Police said the woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and no further injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The Town of Hempstead Building Department also responded to the scene and reported that the building was safe.
